Craftsman Shutters and Other Custom Frame Options for Houston06/26/2017Cory Cryer Every so often we’ll hear a Houston homeowner remark “all shutters look the same.” Let’s get rid of any confusion – that couldn’t be further from the truth. Most people don’t know the number of options you have when it comes to custom plantation shutters in Houston, and the impact those options may have. Possibly chief among those options is the style of shutter frame you pick. Houston Custom Shutter Frames The options available to you for shutter frames will depend on: How your window opens and closes. The depth of the window jamb. Whether you’ll have an outside mount or inside mount. Your own personal taste. A few of our shutter frames are only available in certain materials, such as our Polywood® faux wood shutters, some are only able to work on an inside or outside mount of a window, and some might just look better than others with your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, ideal for Craftsman style homes and offered exclusively by Sunburst. Let’s take a look at some of the most common shutter frames we recommend to Houston homeowners. Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t watch House Hunters for more than 5 minutes without seeing Craftsman design. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was created specifically for Craftsman style houses and similar designs. A Craftsman frame offers a clean and simple look, so no part of your home looks gaudy compared to the rest. If utilizing Craftsman fashion is your desire, this is the frame for you. Currently available in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only. L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is possibly the simplest and most practical frame style. They have a sleek, modern look, and are typically the easiest to work around for specialty windows. The L-frame can function as both an outside and inside mount, if you’d like to keep your existing window trim, and is available in every single one of our shutters. Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a widely-chosen style because they offer a stylized, sophisticated look on your window, not unlike crown or bass molding. It gets the name “Z-frame” due to the shape of its exterior, which is mounted on the inside of the window jamb, but hugs the jamb and extends to the outside creating a “Z” figure. That wraparound shape lets it substitute for window trim if your windows don’t have any existing trim. Z-frames are available in for all of our shutter products. Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame has a lot going on in the style department. With stylish texture and an attention-grabbing shape, this frame looks fantastic for windows that don’t have any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are offered in Ovation and Polywood shutters only. Beyond the type of frame, there are still a great deal of options for you to further customize your shutters. All of our frames can have a sill piece attachment added, as well as other custom additions your installer can help you choose from.
