Congrats to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Cory Cryer

The new year means a new chance to revamp your interior design, and beautiful new examples of shutters from homeowners in Houston and across the country. That also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the winner for January 2017 is Elk Grove, California resident Katie S. for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

plantation shutters Houston

Elk Grove in Northern California is just one of several towns around the country whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters year-round. Even when slightly ajar like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a huge amount of sunlight from coming into the home. In Elk Grove as well as in Houston, that’s a good thing for any savvy homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, which means they’re great for homeowners who experience scorching summers or frigid winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That results in a more liveable home and cash back in your pocket every month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s new shutters also take advantage of some newer home design trends. Neutral-toned backgrounds such as her brown wall are becoming very fashionable, with differing instances of colors–in Katie’s case the white of the Polywood shutters–working as points of interest throughout the room. Offered in different white and off-white hues, plantation shutters can fill a great role in contemporary home design.

As our winner, Katie will receive a $100 gift card to a local restaurant, in addition to having her wonderful shutters featured with our previous winners.
